Ganesh Chaturthi is a special festival in India celebrating Lord Ganesha, who is the elephant-headed god of wisdom and good fortune. People make or buy clay idols of Ganesha and decorate them beautifully. For about 10 days, families and communities pray, sing, and dance to celebrate. They also make and share yummy sweets called "modaks," which are Ganesha's favorite. At the end of the festival, they take the idols to rivers or the sea and immerse them in water, which represents sending Ganesha back to his home. It's a time of joy, togetherness, and fun for everyone!

How to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi?

On Ganesh Chaturthi, start by making or buying a small statue of Lord Ganesh. Decorate a special spot in your home with flowers and lights. Gather your family to offer prayers, sing songs, and offer sweets like Modak, which is Ganesh's favorite. You can also draw colorful rangoli designs at your doorstep. On this day, visit friends and neighbors to exchange good wishes. Attend a community celebration if there's one nearby. Finally, after a few days, you can take the statue to a water body, like a lake or river, for a gentle immersion ceremony, bidding goodbye until next year.
